Week 37

Tuesday was Bike to School Day!! We had so many kids ride bikes to school that some of them had to be parked in the gym! Our bike patrollers were very busy on Tuesday keeping everyone organized and locking up all the bikes so they were safe and sound!

In math we have been learning about symmetry. We went around the school looking for objects that are symmetrical and asymmetrical. It was so fun!

We started an art project for math, it is based on the idea of symmetry. We got a picture of half of our face and then had to try to draw the exact same image on the other side of the page. They are turning out to be pretty amazing!

We got to go visit the chicks this week! Sadly they had to go back to the farm but it was pretty nice to get to spend some time with them before they went back to their home.

We are learning about animals and have continued our research about them. We are going to be making informational posters and to support our learning about animals and animal groups we are going on a field trip to the Calgary Zoo next week!

We had our Social Studies test this week. We did pretty great on it and Miss Kolb and Miss Klem were really impressed with all the connections we were able to make about the countries we have been studying, their traditions and celebrations as well as their histories, wow!! Before the test we had a chance to "study" and look over all the work we have been doing this year. We sure have learned a lot!

We are also writing about "A day in our life" in Social Studies. Then we will do a compare and contrast to the four countries we have been studying, Ukraine, India, Tunisia, and Peru. On Monday we are going to get on the computers and type out our paragraphs.

We had another birthday this week! Happy Birthday A! 

We had a Library visit on Thursday morning. They told us all about the summer program at the library and showed us some prizes we could get if we participated! Click the link below to find out more information about all of the neat opportunities at the library over the summer!

We started lacrosse in gym and have been having gym outside, it has been lovely. 

For those amazing Jump Rope for Heart fundraisers in our class, they got their prizes this week! Good job, fundraisers!! 

The weather was so nice this week and we earned bonus! We got to go outside and do some free writing on the play ground. It was awesome!

We had Sports Day this week on Friday! So fun! 

The office was totally decked out and looked amazing!

We have been continuing to read Stuart Little. It's quite a funny and exciting book! We are almost half-way through!

Next week is our last ICNR visit. All of our Village Square Library books need to be returned by Wednesday June 13th. 

Friday June 15th is the last day to return CJFS library books. Please return them next week :) 

The pencil sitation is becoming quite dire in room 7 & 8... good thing there are only 13 school days left until summer break!
