Week 33

On Monday we got henna done!! It was the perfect ending to learning about some of the traditions in India. It was so incredible and looks amazing!! We would like to send out a HUGE thank you to Mrs. Sanghera for organizing this for us! You are wonderful and we are so thankful for the incredibly generous gift!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Mrs. Sanghera helping our henna dry!

Monday was Music Monday! We all went to the gym and sang beautifully as a whole school.

In math we are learning about multiplication and division. For multiplication in grade 3 we have to know and be able to show up to 5x5 and in grade 4 we have to know up to 9x9. For division we have to know how to divide 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers evenly. We have been practicing these skills by working on word problems, drawing equal groups, repeated addition and repeated subtraction.

On Wednesday we had ICNR. It was our last borrowing visit so all the books need to be returned to the school by June 13th, our very last visit with ICNR!

We made plates this week that were inspired by traditional Tunisian art. We used self drying clay to make them. We flattened it out into the shape of plates and then put a paper pattern on top of it and used tooth picks to poke a pattern into the clay. When the clay was all dry we painted them! They look incredible and are very delicate. Some of our plates broke but we were able to fix them with a little hot glue! We just have to remember to be careful with them when we are handling them.

We have worked so hard on all of the art work that represents the countries we have been studying. We got to take them home this week (at last!).

Next week we will be uploading some items to iris! Stay tuned!

We had buddies this week. Because we are such good researchers. They needed some help with researching on the computers and we helped them research bugs! All the teachers were really impressed with how well we all worked together and the quality of the research that was completed.

Mr. Collins was at the pool this week swimming with the Div 1 kids. We got to go outside for gym and the other day we had Miss Klem and Miss Kolb for our gym teachers!

Most of us have earned free choice this week. Those of us that didn't finish our work in class time had to work on completing it during it free choice.

In Social Studies we reviewed what we have learned about the countries. We have been working on completing some country guides using the text books and our social books and notes.

The Grade 6s have begun their PATs (Provincial Achievement Test), good luck Grade 6's!

We have started guided reading recently. This has been great because we all have a group and get to read with an adult at least twice a week. Some of us are in a novel study with Miss Kolb and they get to go to the learning commons twice a day to read a chapter book and answer questions about what they have read.

Next week is a short week. We will have a half day on Thursday and no school on Friday.

We watched a Magic School Bus episode about hatching chick eggs. We aren't sure how our 2 eggs are doing but we are keeping a close eye on them.

Until next week,

Love,

Room 7 & 8
