On Thursday we went on an amazing field trip! We went to Grow Calgary and we got super filthy! We were working hard to help this urban farm with their planting and watering.
For our field trip our first job was to get buckets of water from a creek and pour it onto the plants. Our other job was chaotic but we were watering and planting and moving things around the farm. At Grow Calgary by the green house some of us who were getting water we saw a fish!! We couldn't believe it. So instead of taking the water to plant we started putting the water back into the pond because we felt like the fish needed it more. We also got to climb a big pile of dirt! It was dangerous and some of us took a tumble down the hill.. this is also where most of us realized we would be pretty dirty for the rest of the day and would just keep getting more dirty!
At the end of the field trip we all got to sit on the tractors and we quickly realized how filthy we were from our heads right down to our soggy socks! It was such an exhausting day that some of us even had a little sleep on the way back in the bus. What a great day!
This week we had our last baby visit for Roots of Empathy. We sure will miss our babies! After our last baby visit we got popsicles.
This week we had a class meeting about safety and we went over our safety procedures of fire drills and lock down drills. Ask me what the emergency procedures for our school are.
In writing we worked on typing our fairy tales and making our oil pastel art work to go along with it. We will finish the art next week.
Room 7 went out to the naturalization area this week and we planted in our planter and helped weed the areas that needed to be weeded. We were split into groups. Some of us helped the 1/2s weed their flowerbed, others planted marigolds and the last group was weeding the other plant beds.
In math we started learning about fractions! Ask me what I know so far and help me review so I am ready for my test next week!
This week we also had a very important class meeting about respecting others and treating everyone with kindness. We used our talking stick to share things we felt about this year and what we were thankful for.
There was pizza lunch for those of us who are in the lunch program. It was so nice of the lunch program to provide that delicious meal for us! Thank you!
Today we got free choice! Yay!
All library books are due back next week. Please bring them in!
Until next time,
Love,
Room 7 & 8
