Week Twenty Nine

Mr. Collins was at the pool all week this week and so we had Mrs. Craig in the gym with us. We continued to work on our skills in soccer and learned how to play Wall Ball and some other fun soccer skill games.

We had three dance parties this week because we had everyone come to school!

We started a really cool art project for the 40th anniversary of our school. We were inspired by an art project Ms. Kolb has done before, they will be fantastic when they are all done!

We had our buddies come in this week and we shared our original stories with them.

This week we compared the differences between the original Little Mermaid and the Disney version of The Little Mermaid. We are learning about fairy tales and how they have changed over time. We discovered that the original Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen is VERY different from the Disney version. Ask me about some of the differences.

For the Eat Well Play Well Challenge we got second in the school! We have a certificate hanging in the classroom.

This week we got to pick a famous Albertan and do research on them. We had to research when and where they were born and what their job was. Then we had to present our research to the class. Some of the presentations were very funny. We did a great job with our research and we were very brave in our sharing to each other. Ask me who I researched and what I learned about them!

Some of us, who are in choir got to go to the Jubilee with Ms. Gunderson to present some songs. They had a great time!

In math we started division. Ask me about what strategy we learned for dividing numbers evenly.

We are more than half-way through and almost finished The Hobbit. Ask me what has been happening on Bilbo's adventure!

It is SNOWING today! It is wild, and we can't believe it!

We have a long weekend coming up, there is no school this Friday or Monday because it is Easter. Happy Easter and have a happy Good Friday!

Please comment on the blog! We love comments!

Until next time,

Week 28

Ms. V and Ms. N had their last day this Wednesday, we are sad to see them go, they were so nice to have in the classroom. They gave us pencils and erasers just at the right time! We were running super low on pencils!

For gym on Thursday we got to go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather! In the gym with Mr. Collins we have been working on Soccer skills such as juggling, dribbling, shooting, passing and controlling the ball.

We did a pulley challenge this week! Ms. V and Ms. N got to see us build our pulleys and help us make them.

In math we have been working on patterns! We  looked at number patterns this week, ask me to solve this number pattern mystery and tell you the rule! Today we had a Patterns test to see what we know! Yay math!

1, 4, ___, 10, 13, ___

In writing we are learning about fairytales, we asked lots of really good questions about what we wonder about them and we got to research the questions on the computer. Ms. Paull even came in for some of these lessons this week and got to see us learning, it was so cool to have her in the classroom with us! Next week we are going to be munching on delicious and healthy popcorn while we watch The Little Mermaid! Then we are going to read the original tale by Hans Christian Anderson. We will be doing a compare and contrast from the Disney version of the story to the original story. This will be similar to when we read and watched the City of Ember.

Room 7 had a Baby Visit with our Roots of Empathy baby this week, she is getting cuter and cuter! Lena has grown two teeth since we saw her last!

We earned free choice this week :)

Swim forms are due MONDAY APRIL 10!!! If you are coming swimming with us you MUST bring in your swim forms MONDAY!!

Until next time,
