Week 27

Spring has finally sprung! Tuesday was the first day of Spring! Not that you can really tell based on the weather, but believe it or not it's here!

We finished reading Wonder this week! We watched the movie on Thursday so that we could compare the similarities and differences between the book and movie. We got delicious popcorn to munch on while we watched :)

Miss Klem & Miss Kolb popped lots of popcorn! Yummy!

We did lots of math this week! We had a math test about addition and subtraction and we started learning about decimals and a little bit of fractions! When we finished the practice decimal sheet we had we got to make up some of our own and challenge a friend! Check out some of the ones we did below and see if you can answer them with the matching decimal and fraction.

Here are some videos about decimals for you to review over spring break:

Now try some games!

Can you find the matching decimal and fraction to go with some of the pictures the students made? You can leave your answers in the comments section or bring your homework back to school with you on a piece of paper on Tuesday April 3rd!

Use this place value chart to help you:

a) b)

c)  d)

e)  f)

g) h)

i)  j)

We finished Coco this week and our new lunch movie is Despicable Me 3!

Choir has ended, their performance at the Celebration of Learning was a fantastic way to end the club. RIP until next year!

We had a field trip to the Humane Society this week. It was just us in the building and we split into two groups! We got to have a presentation about what the Humane Society does and we also got a tour of the facility and got to meet and see some animals! One of the animals that we met was a gecko called "Gertie" she was really neat! We even got to pet her and she was so soft! Phil and Mal were our guides for the day and they knew a lot about animals and the Humane Society! It was a great morning!

Tonight is family movie night at the school! Doors open at 6:00pm and the movie will start at 6:30pm. The movie will be "Secret Life of Pets" and it will cost $3 for a family to come, no matter the size! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Enjoy!

Popcorn, juice and water will be for sale for $1

In gym this week we have been doing ringette and sledge hockey! For sledge hockey we get a small hockey stick and race around on scooters!

We will be going swimming in April 16, so if you have not returned your swim forms please do!

We finally get to take home the books we wrote! Some of us are very excited to get to take them home and share them with our families. We have been doing some 'spring cleaning' around the classroom and some of the art has been sent home, including posters that we did together about natural disasters. Miss Klem did "eeny, meeny, miny, moe" to decide who would get to take them home in a fair way.

Today (Thursday) was a half day. We have no school on Friday as it is a PD day for teachers. We have Spring Break next week so come back to school on April 3! See you then! Have a great Spring Break!

Until next time,

Love,

Room 7 & 8
